Overview

Slick Rock Falls is one of the waterfalls that can be found in North California near Brevard. It flows on Slick Rock Creek above a suspended sham. It dries rarely to closely drop which may vary on the watershed which is available.

Slick Rock Falls

History

Such waterfall was named Slick Rock Falls basically because of the slick rocks that are present both on the top and bottom of the falls. The top portion of this Slick Rock Falls was used by cattle as means of transporting from one side of the falls to the other. Hence, somehow it served as shortcut. At later part, it became part of the Pisgah National Forest, a forest found in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina which was supervised and preserved by United States Forest Service as one of projects of the United States Department of Agriculture.

Tourist Spot

Indeed, Slick Rock Falls have become one of the tourist spots which are always being visited by tourists in Pisgah National Forest. This waterfall is open to public can be travelled by car. It is widely visited by family, lovers and even business personnel to relax themselves and get away with the stress that they are carrying. It provides ambiances that would surely please anyone who is in there. Moreover, it can give a natural view that would surely give new environment to anyone who visits it. Fresh air with the combination of green trees can be found there. With regards to travelling it wouldn’t take long. One has to travel 5.2 miles north from the highway intersection and then turn left until he/she sees the Pisgah Center. After passing the Pisgah Center, drive another 0.1 miles and right on the gravel FR475B after that you need to drive a bit more mile and then you can now see Slick Rock Falls.

Other Falls

Rockhouse Creek Falls can be found 9 km north of Slick Rock Falls. It would be possible to view the falls so long as it is not winter. Winter make the forest even darker with the snow it left of the trees at it falls. Thus it would be best if viewed during summer or any other season. This falls can be accessible to anyone however it has been strong suggested for one not to go in these mentioned falls for it is extremely hazardous.

Other than Rockhouse Creek Falls, there are also other falls such as Looking Glass Falls, Moore Cove Falls, Sliding Rock, Cedar Rock Falls, Log Hollow Falls, Twin Falls, Daniel Ridge Falls, Key Falls, Falls on Log Hollow Branch and Cove Creek Falls. Looking Glass Falls is one of the must see waterfalls since it has the characteristic that is very extraordinary from other waterfalls present in the forest. It was named after such due to it being the same as winter mirror of sunlight whenever the water found on its sides and sun reflects on it. Indeed visiting these falls would be dangerous if travelling without guide.
